Why is The Hateful Eight filmed on 70mm Ultra Panvision?

As the advertisements have told us many times, Quentin Tarantino's new western flick is being filmed with 70mm panvision, but what does this mean?

70mm panvision is super wide, this allows us an audience to see a lot more than we would on a standard 35mm film. This will allow the film to show us a vast area of the surrounding landscape, really giving us viewers a sense of how remote the location is, also as 70mm is going to be used for indoor shots it will allow us to see more of the interior space, which will give the audience the feeling that they are in the room with the movie, therefore allowing a closer relationship between the movie and the audience.

But why still use film cameras if we can use digital cameras?

In the digital revolution, it's sad to say that not many film makers are using actual film cameras any more, everything has moved to the digital world. But Tarantino has famously stuck by film cameras since the star of his directing career, which I think is great. I think because of people like Quentin Tarantino, film cameras have been making a comeback, even in Hollywood blockbuster, the new Star Wars movie has been filmed using a film camera.
I really hope that movies start using film cameras more, yes I understand that digital has it's advantages, cheaper, less maintenance etc, but film stock gives a movie a feel and style that simply can't be replicated with a digital camera.
